Vintage FAIRMOUNT (NYCS) New York Central Railroad Cross Peen Blacksmith Hammer
Nice old FAIRMOUNT (NYCS) Railroad cross peen hammer (see pics).
Nice hammer face, looks like its never been used that much at all (see pics). The peen is also in GREAT! condition with no chips or cracks (see pics). Some slight scratches on the sides of the hammer head (see all pics).
It's hard to see, but it's stamped NYCS or NEW YORK CENTRAL SYSTEMS on the one side of the hammer head and FAIRMOUNT on the other side of the head (see pics).
The hammer head is a little loose on the original hickory handle, the handle looks like it might have some creosote on it, but it's not sticky at all (see pics). There are no breaks, crack or repairs to the hammer head or the handle (see all pics). The total length of the hammer is 10-3/8" long. The total weight of the hammer is 2 pounds 14.2 oz. The head is 5" long. The hammer face is 1-1/2" in diameter. The peen is 1-1/2" wide.
