Description

Up for bid here is a rare antique steel double head railroad spike driver sledgehammer from the 'Southern Railroad'. The markings on one side conclude it was made by Verona WV & T Tool Co. The handle was broke off so we just decided to remove the rest of it and sell the head by itself. Please see pics as they are a part of the description also. Being from NC this item can be presumed is from our local area and was purchased at a local estate in our area. Being said, this spike driver is in great used shape with only some very light patchy surface rust and some old dirt residue but there are no major dents, no breaks and no repairs. It is marked on one side with the Verona tool symbol on one end of the handle hole and 10 on the other side. The other side it is clearly marked "S.O.R.Y." for Southern Railroad. It
measures approx. 14" long 1 3/4" thick at each end and 2 3/4" wide at the middle. It weighs a little over 10 pounds by itself. Folks,
this is a great piece of American history, Railroad history and it would go wonderful in a collection or home.
