Description
If you do not have one of these for your locomotives, you need one - a unique operating railroad collectible. This is an absolutely authentic oil can for a steam locomotive. The long throated neck removes, and you can still smell the original steam oil, some of which is still in the can reservoir! The Can base is 4” in diameter with a 3 ½” tall handle. The thumb trigger works! The trigger is stamped “Pat P” for patent pending. The neck is 1 1/2” diameter and screws on tightly but unscrews readily. The top of the can container is stamped “M VICAR OILER THE FLINT ELEC & MFG CO DENVER COLO”.
I have not been able to turn up any definitive information on this company, the only reference I could find is a Flint-Lomax Electrical & Manufacturing Company which was in business in the early 1900s. I am not sure if this is the same company, the mystery is yours to solve! This is in excellent shape, and a real must for any collection. I am in absolutely no compulsion to sell: as the saying goes, if you don’t like mine, look for another one! The oiler alone is 2 lb, 3.1 oz in weight, and 31” tall. I hope you are a successful bidder for this fine piece of Railroadiana!
From a previous move we know there is oil inside, if laid flat or upside down the box may get oil stains on it. We will attempt to plug the top spount with easily removable material.
