Simplex # 41 JackI don't know all so much about this jack, just myth and lore..
I used its bigger brothers for forty years at work and still have them from 5 to 20 tons
I found this little guy on eBay a few decades ago, its been in my office since, made a nice decoration.
When I bought it another eBay sent me a note asking to sell it for significantly more than I just paid for it.
I don't recall exactly what he said but something that this is a rare variation and it was a car jack for a specific car.
He kept up with asking and I said no just not wanting to deal with it at the time.
Honestly, I have no idea other than its a 1 1/2 ton Simplex click jack or clicker as well them.
I am not up on antique cars or the jacks for them. I see some with Yellow Cab cast into them, this is not, this has a brass tag, most do not.
This jack works mostly, it goes up perfectly and down you need to be a bit snappy with the click to go down. Its got dust in it from sitting around decades. I sprayed some oil in it and its better but not perfect. Sometimes these jacks like some load on them to work better. I don't know, I used this as a decoration, not a tool.
I don't see wear on any parts, I don't see cracks bends or breaks. If your going to lift loads I recommend a professional service the jack. I would say that for any lifting equipment you acquire.
I didn't paint it, its how it came to me.
So now you know the legend of my green clicker, what true and what's not, I don't know. Buy the jack or buy the story?
I will look great in your garage or mancave type place
