    Description

You are looking at a complete set of all three very rare S. Hawk LTD. boosters made in the USA by Harry Kolbe in the early 1970's. The hawk I II & III are all included and as well I will give you complete photo copies of the original manuals for the Hawk II & III. The hawk II is a three band eq treble booster called The Tonal Expander and the hawk III is called The Bass Expander (rarest of the three by far) with a 2 band eq, and the Hawk I is a single band overdrive boost that plugs directly into your guitar or can also be plugged directly into your amp by doing a minor re-wire. Below are the individual specs. ALL THREE units are included and working perfectly.
HAWK I: Linear Pre-Amp / Fuzz / Headphone Amp / Volume Control. It is a switchable overdrive and distortion effect device
    Hawk II
: This is the highly sought after and extremely rare S. Hawk Ltd. II Tonal Expander was first introduced in 1973 by Harry Kolbe in NYC. It is a 3 point peak and dip equalizer optimized to compliment the electric guitar. The tonal expander has EQ points not typically found on HiFi equalizers, thus making the Q curve quit different. Bringing into fact that the Tonal Expander uses REAL inductors, it makes for an expressive toneful op-amp filter EQ. Dubbed the "holy grail of boosts" and used by Rory Gallagher, it is a legend in its own right. The eq points on the Hawk II Tonal Expander are 170Hz, 550Hz and 2500Hz.These are not the points found on the typical recording and Hi Fi equalizers. More to the point, the Q or shape of the curve is quite different. The Hawk equalizers are the EQs for fretted instrument that implement the eq filters with inductors as opposed to the artificial inductors created by gyrators.
    Red switch = on/off
    Middle switch = Gain boost
    Right Switch = Treble boost
This particular unit is original including the two 9v battery snaps. It is a great tone base and is in good working order. There is a sticker on the front side or the original store it was purchased from.
    Hawk III
: The S. Hawk Ltd. Hawk III Bass Expander made its debut in 1973. It is a 2 point peak and dip equalizer specifically designed and optimized to compliment the electric bass guitar. It will also work well with any electric instrument: keyboards, guitar, piano and synths.
