Description
Up for auction is this great and very rare Reading Railroad (RR) marked wood handled screwdriver. Marked on the top of the blade shaft with the Reading Railroad "RR" in a square logo. The Reading Railroad (Pennsylvania USA) was formed in 1924 and ran until it was eventually absorbed by Conrail. The screwdriver we are selling was early in the railroads tenure as it is from the 1920's to 1930's. It has a ball shaped wood handle, metal coupler and steel shaft. Measures about 8 1/2 inches long. It was manufactured by the Robert Solby & Sons Company in Sheffield, England. While well intact and usable, the piece has a couple of cracks in the wood handle and the handle has to be readjusted to fit squarely onto the steel shaft. Some expected oxidation to steel. Wood exhibits a great vintage patina! A great and very hard to find piece and wonderful addition to any Railroadiana collection. Offered with NO RESERVE!!Please see our other Railroad related and marked tools, dining room items and hardwares on eBay now and over the next couple of weeks.
