Up for your consideration is a beautiful VINTAGE and very RARE in this condition U.S. Guitar Company New Jersey Menzenhauer Zither No. 2 Special Panama Model 1915. Research shows this was made for the Panama Exposition in San Francisco in 1915. It would be safe to say that this zither is over 100 years old. This zither is called a 4 chord zither. It has 31 strings and all are present and in great shape! Included is an original tuning key and pick for the finger or thumb. This zither is in great shape. The graphics are beautiful, no damage to the graphics and complete. There are a few scratches from normal wear around the edges. (See photos) There is a small crack in the surface wood only (see photo) on the top under the 2nd chords first string. This should not affect performance. At some time, I would guess the back piece of wood was replaced, thus the sloppy paint or stain on the side of the zither. This back piece does have a thin crack running through the middle but this too should not affect the performance. This piece comes with original sheet music copyrighted around 1906 AND original yellowed Catalogue of Music for the Mendenhauer Guitar Zither and American Mandolin Harp issued by the Oscar Schmidt company Jersey City New Jersey. All of the sheet music has been photocopied and printed for preservation for you, the buyer. I will include the originals with it.

The only payment I accept is through PayPal. You will receive an automatic E-mail notice after you purchase my item. I cannot accept any other form of payment.
If after 3 days, you do not pay for your purchase, Ebay will automatically open an unpaid item case but if you need more time, please let me know before 3 days are up so I can turn off the unpaid item assistant for you and manage it manually.
Shipping
Shipping will be by USPS Priority mail unless otherwise noted. In most cases, shipping is by weight
AND
package dimensions. USPS has recently changed the way they measure and weight packages. DIM weight is now in play which means that the box size matters. If I ship a 1 pound pillow in an oversized box, I will have to pay more than the 1 pound weight because the box is taking up so much room.
Any one dimension over 12 inches will be considered a
LARGE PACKAGE
and may incur additional shipping charges. I will be happy to send you the weight and size of any item I sell so you can check out the costs yourself. In some cases, if you overpay for shipping, I will send the excess back to you by PayPal.
I will combine shipping if requested!  I will package your purchase very carefully to ensure that it will arrive safely. I send your item in the exact condition specified in the description. If it does not work or is broken upon delivery, PLEASE file a USPS insurance claim through their web site. USPS Priority mail has insurance on it covering up to , and if your item's value is more than , I will add Auctiva insurance.

I sell good clean items. I will photograph serial numbers or marks so you know what item you are getting. I also do this so that if the item comes back to me for any reason, I want to make sure it was what I had sent out! Some unscrupulus buyers (yes, they are out there) will buy an item from me and once received, return their broken item to me saying they received it broken. I know better and will challenge this with Ebay!
Buyers Remorse is a valid reason for a return, but please indicate that as a reason and pay the shipping to return it. DO NOT SAY THE ITEM IS DEFECTIVE JUST TO MAKE ME PAY SHIPPING! Recently, several items came back to me working perfectly.
I clean most items but only for photos, they might need better cleaning, especially food use items. My home is clean, we dont smoke and I have a dog but for every item I have, I dont know where they came from. New items are new, not re-shrink-wrapped by me. I cannot guarantee that others didn't.
With this being said, I try to examine each item closely for cracks or chips. My eyes are not the best as they used to be and I might miss something so look at the pictures carefully.
