    Description

Lot of 4 Vintage Corn Husk / Maisie Dolls, by Riley & Joyce Grimes, Elgin, IA. Condition is "Pre-Owned". Shipped with USPS Parcel Ground Select.
This is a unique set of 4 corn husk dolls (known as Maisies) made by Riley and Joyce Grimes of Elgin, IA. The couple made these dolls for 40 years and became quite well known for them, as the dolls are more sophisticated and detailed than the average corn husk doll.
The Grimes' dolls were displayed, and Riley & Joyce demonstrated making them, at the Smithsonian's American Folk Art celebration in 1976. In 1983, the Grimes' work was recognized by the Iowa Arts Council, and their dolls traveled around Eastern Europe as part of folk art displays in 1984. The dolls have been sold in the gift shop of the Henry Ford Museum in Greenfield, MI, and sent to every corner of the world.
See photos, including two photos of newspaper articles about the dolls.
