AIS Defined
The manufacturer uses clean air injection that adds oxygen to the exhaust.
For this to work correctly, the entire system must remain stock, meaning no intake or exhaust modifications or aftermarket parts. Once changes have been made, the system is no longer in an equilibrium, so it often leads to "backfiring".
Possible backfire could damage the
exhaust system of the bike.
By removing the entire system, and replacing with plates, one can nearly eliminate all backfiring, even if no modifications have been made.
Also, since the clear air injection is adding extra air from the air box you can gain some increase in air box pressure when at speed.
With the clean air system in place, any air/fuel sensors on the bike will show a leaner running engine causing your bike to adjust the fuel system too rich.
This can only be prevented by eliminating the clean air system (AIS) and all associated hoses. This also cleans up the look of the bike and removes a significant amount of weight.
