We have been able to verify that this part will also fit the kickstarter shaft on 1983-1987 KX500 models (shaft is the same part number for 1983-2004 models). However, the shape of the lever itself is different. If you have a 1983-1987 model, please be aware that this part may need to be modified (cut, welded, or bent) to fit your bike.
