1800's SIOUX INDIAN TRIBAL Vintage Cow Bull Horn Bugle 10” long

A NICELY CARVED & ENGRAVED EARLY-to MID 19th CENTURY AMERICAN INDIAN HORN "BUGLE", ca. 1820
:
Of likely "South-east" or "Plains Indian" (Sioux) make, ca. 1820-1850. In overall very good+/Fine untouched condition with a naturally curved, medium-size, cow horn body with golden honey yellow to brown colored, nicely patinated & oxidized horn surfaces.
Sculpted and carved outer contours with an integrally carved, tapered "Bottle Nose" type spout-end/mouth-piece with its carved mouth-piece with a ringed base & iron bracket-- for the attachment of a suspension-cord. The body with a nicely carved (somewhat coarsely executed) & inked (scrimshawed) American Indian depiction of a mythological? Horse/Tree in traditional American Indian form.
The spout & its base with geometric and crosshatch pattern engravings of traditional Native American form-Yucca and horse. The open-type base with matching smooth contours and is made without evidence of a base-plug or means of a plug's attachment. It is pierced with a single hole for the attachment of the suspension-cord. In overall very good+/fine untouched condition with nicely oxidized & patinated horn surfaces with the expected signs of use and wear: minor abrasions and age-stains.
